(Free!!) Relay 4 Life event: Saturday Jan 28th

Come join us for a day of free fun in the snow!!! We have a list of different fun activities you can all take part in! Come as a team or come alone and just join the fun! We will also be selling hot chocolate to warm you guys up!
Schedule of Events:

12pm (noon): start off with a nice easy warm up skate to help shake off any possible toxins and sin from the night before. And by warm up… We mean the 100m dash. Winner gets bragging rights!!

1pm: Now that our legs are all warmed up from a nice cordial skate, it’s time to flash those skills with a hockey skills competition. Show up your tightest puck handling, sharp shooting prowess, and best trick shot in this show that isn’t to be missed! All skill levels encouraged!!

For those of you who don’t like hockey, don’t own a stick, or just don’t feel like participating or watching the skills competition, there will be a snow soccer game taking place on the soccer field on the inside of the speed skating rink!

2pm: It’s time for some ODR (Outdoor Rink) hockey. Bring teams of 3 or 4 and battle it out to prove just how Canadian you really are. This is a tourny and the first 8 teams to register will get to play. Registration will begin at the beginning of the skills competition at the rinks. Games will be 10 minutes each with a 2 minute sudden death tie breaker. If after the 2 minutes there is still a tie, there will be a 100m dash challenge to determine the winner.

3pm: Time to rest up for a little bit and let the kid inside you shine through! We will be having a snowman competition followed by a snow angel contest! prizes go out to the best dressed and biggest snowman! Also, get out your halo’s and wings and make us the best snow angel you can! Bring your own props!

4pm: It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for. It’s the grande finale of the day. The only time where it is socially acceptable to beat the hell out of one another. It’s a snowball fight ladies and gentlemen. Bring your best throwing arm and stake out a fort. Teams are encouraged but it is a free for all event. Game on!

What better way to end a fun filled winter day…head over to Pier 21 to party it up with your favorite Relay for Life Committee!!! We can warm you up after a day in the snow!

Happy Chinese New Year! Gong Hei Fat Choy. A happy, healthy and prosperous Year of the Dragon to all.

The Department of Housing automatically charges every residence student approximately $242.00/year for room phones, regardless if the service is used or not. Unlike other services such as the CUSA Health Plan, students are NOT given the option to opt-out of this service and receive their money back.

RRRA believes this is unfair because the majority of students who live in residence do not use their room phones and it is unfair to charge them nearly $250.00 for a service they don’t use. That’s money that could be used to buy a textbook or two!

We understand that there are students who take advantage of this service and it is not our intention to eliminate phones from every room in residence. We simply want to give students the option to opt-out if they feel they will not take advantage of their room phones.

If you believe that room phones should have an opt-out option, sign this petition! The RRRA Executives will submit this petition to the Department of Housing in hopes that an opt-out option can be created. Let your voice be heard! $250.00 is a lot of money that shouldn’t be put to waste.
